Gerald “Puckey” Joseph Turano

Gerald “Puckey” Joseph Turano, 81, of Carbondale died Tuesday at Allied Hospice Center, Scranton. His wife is Carol Ann Pidgeon Turano. They were married 61 years.
 
Born in Vandling, son of the late Michael and Josephine Staskavage Turano, he was a craftsman at Gentex for many years. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and quality time with his family, especially if food was involved. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and also enjoyed wood working. Puckey was a hands-on type of guy who loved to help others.
 
In addition to his wife, survivors include three sons: son, Rick Turano and wife, Dorothy Walsh Turano, and their children, Rick and wife, Nicole; Kevin and companion, Lisa Henry; Michael and Annalisa Lepre-Legg; and Christina and companion, Dave Goldate; son, Rob Turano and wife, Candy Pettinato Turano, and their children, Dominick and wife, Kristy; Lexi Garcia and husband, Andrew; son, Tim Turano and wife, Caprice Turano, and their son, Hunter; several great-grandchildren; a sister, JoAnn Turano Corrigan; several nieces and nephews.
 
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Francis Turano and Michael Turano; and a sister, Catherine Turano Edwards.
 
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Twp. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:30 a.m. until Mass time.
