Gerald “Jerry” Monahan Jr.

Gerald “Jerry” Monahan Jr., 60, South Abington Twp., died Sunday at Allied Hospice, Morgan Highway, Scranton.

Born in Carbondale, son of the late Gerald Monahan Sr. and Patricia McDonnell Monahan, Jerry was a Carbondale St. Rose High School and Penn State University graduate. He was an avid basketball fan and enjoyed golf. He loved spending time at the beach.

He is survived by: two sons, Jerry Monahan, Scranton; Christopher Monahan and wife, Katie, Vandling; one daughter, Melissa Monahan, Danville; two grandchildren, Lillian and Madelyn Monahan, Vandling; two brothers, Jimmy Monahan, Shippensburg; John Monahan and wife, Carol, Lititz; a sister, Carleen Willeford and husband, Ken, South Carolina; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral will be Friday from Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 74 N. Main St., Carbondale with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Cremation to follow. Interment will be held at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Twp. at a later date.

A viewing will be held Thursday at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.
