James F. “Jack” Pettinato, 84, of Carbondale, died Saturday at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. His wife was the late Yvonne McKarm Pettinato.
 
Born in Carbondale, son of the late Giacomo and Angela (Angelina) Rei Pettinato, he was the former owner of Pettinato’s Restaurant, Carbondale, and retired as a cook from Farview State Hospital. He served in the Pennsylvania National Guard. For 39 years his passion was serving Cottage Hose Ambulance Corps Inc. in various roles as a first responder, treasurer and president. As a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, he was active in fundraising activities such as the feast and spaghetti supper. He was member of his high school class reunion committee. As a kid, Jack enjoyed summers at Crystal Lake while in recent years he enjoyed summer trips to Delaware.
 
Survivors are a son, James J. Pettinato and wife, Janice, Carbondale; grandsons, Luke Pettinato and Christopher Gaylets; a sister, Marie Greto, Carbondale; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
 
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Angela; two brothers, Dr. Salvatore R. Pettinato and Anthony C. Pettinato; a sister, Angela Mancuso; and a nephew, Anthony J. Pettinato.
 
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale. Interment at a future date in Willow View Cemetery, Clifford. The family will receive friends in the church from 10 a.m. until Mass time at 11 a.m.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Cottage Hose Ambulance Corps. P.O. Box 331, Carbondale, PA.
