Delores Cleary
February 1, 2022

Delores Cleary, 85, of Jessup, passed away peacefully Tuesday surrounded by her loving family at Geisinger Community Medical Center after a valiant battle with cancer. Her husband is Alfred Cleary. They were married for 66 years.

Born in Peckville, daughter of the late William and Anna Taylor, she resided there most of her life and was a member of Sacred Heart Church for many years. She graduated from Blakey High School.
A beautiful woman inside and out; she welcomed everyone into her home with open arms. We were blessed to have a mother so involved in our lives and the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She looked forward to Tuesdays, babysitting her great-grandchild, Sloanne, even during a large part of her illness.
Her home was a place for all to gather. Delores was a great cook and made huge meals for her family and friends alike. Holidays were special with everyone invited and no one left hungry. Through the years, she was also involved in all of her children’s activities, whether it was being a den mother or a booster club parent. She never missed a football game or wrestling match. Her family was her life.

Her loyalty to her own parents was immeasurable being a wonderful caregiver to her mom until she passed away at the age of 95. She did make time for herself while loving to travel to casinos, dinners, and cocktails at great restaurants (Ruth’s Chris being her favorite) and beach destinations over the years (Newport, R.I. being her favorite trip).

We would like to thank Dr. Anthony Freda for his wonderful care and Dr. Joshi and the sixth floor nursing staff at Geisinger Medical Center for going above and beyond with the care they provided to Delores and the support they gave her family in the last week of her life. She will be greatly missed and has left beautiful memories of the caring, devoted and loving person she was. Until we are together again, rest easy, Mom.

In addition her husband, Al, she is survived by her children, Diana Cleary, Jessup; Tina (George) Havirlak, Jessup; Al Cleary, Old Forge; Mark Cleary, Olyphant; Randy (Sharon) Cleary, Jessup; grandchildren, Larissa (Brian) Cleary Valonis, Tanya (Mike) Motsay, Deanna (Evan) Kraky, RJ Cleary, Brandon Havirlak, Shawna Havirlak and significant other, Ian McDonnell, Alexandra (Christian) Crinella, Tyler Havirlak, Ciara Cleary, Cameron Cleary and Cody Cleary; great-grandchildren, RJ Cleary, Oliver, Angelo and Sawyer Motsay, Sloanne Valonis, Brixton Kraky, Arlo and Aurelia Crinella.
She is also survived by a sister, Betty Taylor, Old Forge, who she was very close to. They spoke every day and spent much time together over the years, including every holiday. She was preceded in death by brothers, Francis, Jack, George and Bill.

Per her request, there will be no viewing. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at noon at Sacred Heart Church in Peckville.
