Elizabeth A. Olsewski, 87, formerly of Mayfield, died Monday at River St. Manor, Wilkes-Barre. Her late husband was Joseph Olsewski.
 
Born in Mayfield, daughter of the late Marion Morcom Rippon, she was seamstress in the garment industry. She took great pride in being a homemaker for her husband and children and also taking care of elder members of her family years ago. She was class valedictorian during her Mayfield High School days and was a Sunday School teacher.
 
Survivors include two sons, William Olsewski and wife, Mary Beth, Jermyn, and their children, William Joseph Olsewski and partner, Mary Ramsey, Kara Gnall and husband, Matt, and Lauren Zavislak and husband, Rob; a son, Joseph Olsewski and wife, Margaret, Fell Twp., and their children, Nora Ruddy and husband, John, and Maura Olsewski and fiancé, Chris Borzena; great-grandchildren, Chance, Megan, Caleb, Madisyn, Uriah and Noelle; a brother, John Wilson Rippon and wife, Marie, Williamsport; two sisters, Catherine Machell, Clifford; and Susan Munley, Eynon. She was preceded in death by an infant brother, William.
 
Bill and Joe and family extends their heartfelt gratitude to their mom’s neighbor, Bobby Nichols who spent countless hours providing quality time with their mom. From watching TV shows together, having a friendly competition during game shows or Bobby going on errands for their mom, he brightened many of her days with his kindness and thoughtfulness.
 
On Friday, a viewing for family and friends will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 74 N. Main St., Carbondale.
 
On Saturday, the family will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Primitive Methodist Church, Jermyn, with a church service by the Rev. Allan Rupert at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Valley View Memorial Park, Scott Twp.
