Gloria L. Schmel, 78, Thompson, died at home on Saturday with her family by her side. Her husband was the late Francis D. Schmel.
Born in Quakertown Pa, daughter of the late John and Pauline Bushman Roberts, she was employed at the Unemployment Office in Easton for a number of years. She enjoyed visiting casinos and planting her roses and flowers. She loved watching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren grow and loved her cat, Pretty Boy. She enjoyed her home and the beautiful view of Elk Mountain and its landscape.
The family extends its sincere appreciation to Henry Cancer Center, Scranton and Allied Palliative Services, Scranton for their care.
Surviving are a daughter, Virginia Sienkowski and her fiancé, Edward Jones, Carbondale; a son, David Schmel, Warminster; grandchildren, Christiana Mendez and fiance Daniel; Alicia Mendez Guilford and husband, Christopher; Jose Antonio Mendez and fiance, Alexia Talarico, all of Carbondale; Jose Alfredo Mendez , Vernon NY; Jose Alexander Mendez, Carbondale; Edward, Kristen and Nicholas Jones, Carbondale; loving great grandchildren, Reggie, Alayah, Christian, Sara Grace, Regina, Dominic, Brandon, Jewel, Allie, Krystal; a brother, Gregory Roberts, Kitnersville.
Relatives and friends are invited to Gloria’s viewing on Friday in St. John the Baptist Church, 4050 Durham Rd. Ottsville Pa. from 10 a.m. until her Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
