Sylvia E. Curcio, 99, Carbondale, died Tuesday at Carbondale Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. Her husband was the late Samuel Curcio.
Born in Forest City, daughter of the late John and Rose Stare Zgavec, she was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish, Carbondale and was a volunteer at its annual spaghetti dinner. She and her husband enjoyed a trip to Yugoslavia and Italy years ago. She was a member of the Slovenia Society, Cleveland Ohio.
She is survived by nieces Mary Ellen Ryan, Forest City and Sheila Kovaleski, MD; and other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Samuel Curcio Jr.; three brothers, Edward, Gus and John Zgavec and a sister, Rose Pauline.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Carbondale. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Twp.
