Mary Ann Bonacci
July 28, 2022

Mary Ann Bonacci, 82, passed away peacefully on Thursday.

Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Thomas Bonacci , Frances (Domiano) Bonacci Gabriel and Frank Gabriel, she was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale.

Although Mary Ann had no children of her own, “Auntie Mary” played an active and important role in the lives of her many nieces and nephews, as well as her great nieces and nephews. She was an incredibly loving and giving woman. She lived on a modest, fixed income, but that never stopped her from giving selflessly and helping anyone whenever she can. She was a living example of unconditional love. A devout Catholic, she loved music and musicals. Every night, at 7:30 p.m., you could catch her enjoying her favorite TV show, Jeopardy. She was immensely loved and will be terribly missed.

Surviving are three sisters: Veronica “Ronnie” Stewart, Florida; Barbara Dougherty and husband Bob, Waymart; and Ann Marie Maddage, Carbondale; two brothers: Thomas Bonacci, Carbondale; and Alfred Clearly, Jessup; several nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sisters: Josephine Gabriel, Marion Gillott, and Margaret Guzzi; six brothers: Samuel, Anthony, Frank, George, Anthony, and Lawrence Gabriel.

The funeral will be Wednesday from the Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 74 North Main Street, Carbondale, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.

A viewing will be held Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. To offer an online condolence, visit the funeral home’s website.
