Steven J. Kane Jr., 44, Carbondale, passed away Friday at Geisinger CMC, Scranton.
Born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Steven J. Kane Sr. and Irene Helen Davis.
Steve enjoyed the simple things in life. He absolutely loved fishing. He looked forward to the Harford Fair, especially on Saturday for the Derby. Additionally, he thoroughly enjoyed shooting off fireworks on the 4th of July. If you knew him, you realized he was definitely a Chevy Guy, especially the 57 Bel Air. He cherished spending time with family and friends. He will be deeply missed.
Surviving are fiancé, Misty Ogdie, Carbondale; daughter, Celia Kane, Carbondale; son, Brian Kane, Carbondale; step-daughter, Cynthia Schaeffer, Carbondale; two brothers, John Slockbower, Carbondale; and Andy Guthrie, Carbondale; one sister, Roxanne Rugar, Simpson; four grandchildren, Kristofer Kane Coles, Lillian Kane, Nicole Kane, and Rajah Steve Kane Ogdie; ex-wife, Kandi Kane, Carbondale; several nieces and nephews; and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Kane; and a brother, Alan Guthrie.
A funeral service will be held by Pastor Terry Drost at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at the Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 74 North Main Street, Carbondale. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until service time.
