Emilio A. Goussen III, 26, Carbondale, died Sunday at home.
Born in Scranton, son of Emilio Goussen II and Roxanne Benson Goussen, he was a correction officer for the Pa. Dept. of Corrections, SCI Waymart, and served in the National Guard with a deployment in Kuwait.
Emilio was a 2010 graduate of Carbondale Area High School where he was a member of the Chargers football team and was a graduate of Johnson College. He was also a member of the Scranton Miners football team and an avid fan of the Super Bowl champion, Philadelphia Eagles. He will be sadly and deeply missed by all family and friends. He was a very loving person who could light up any room he entered.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Desiree Goussen, Carbondale; six brothers, Johnathon Benson and wife, Jacqueline; Michael Benson and wife, Michelle; Warren Clarke and wife, Brandi; Brian LaVolpe; Steve Martin, all of Carbondale and Kevin Glessner, Texas; uncles and aunts, Stanley and Barbara Swartz, Patrick and Joyce Coyle, an aunt, Jenny Benson and uncles, Harry Benson and Thomas Benson.
A blessing service was held on Thursday, April 5, 2018, at 6:45 pm in Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 74 N. Main St., Carbondale. Cremation followed.  Interment with Military Honors at Sandy Banks Cemetery, Greenfield Twp. was held on Tuesday April 10, 2018.
A viewing was held Thursday, April 5, 2018, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.
