John C. Seigle
May 24, 2024
John C. Seigle, 76, Carbondale, passed away Friday evening at Commonwealth Regional Hospital of Scranton. His wife is the former Blesylda Yadao.
Born in Carbondale, son of the late John A. and Marjorie (Moon) Seigle, he was a United States Navy Veteran during the Vietnam War and member of the Berean Baptist Church, Carbondale. Prior to retirement, he was employed by the University of Scranton as an Air Conditioning Mechanic.
In his retirement, he enjoyed going on cruises and RV trips with his beloved wife of 54 years, to whom he was devoted and cared for tirelessly in sickness and in health. He had a passion for grilling and crocheting, and he was incredibly intelligent and knowledgeable about a wide range of topics. John was a skilled handyman who could fix anything, and his family always knew they could rely on him for help with anything they needed, as he was always eager to lend a hand.
John had a dry and witty sense of humor that endeared him to his family, and he will always be remembered for his jokes and for making people laugh.
John’s true happiness came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Whether it was a family cookout, a holiday celebration, or a simple visit, his family meant the world to him. The love and joy he felt in their company were immeasurable, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
In addition to his wife, Blesylda, he is survived by his four children, Andrew Seigle (Lovely), Hawaii; Mark Seigle, Scranton; Susan Herbert (Joe), Carbondale; Daniel “Danny” Seigle (Rosanne), Philippines; 13 grandchildren, Sarah, Shawna, Audrey, Gretchen, Joey, Shane, Jimmy, Jeremy, Ayla, Logan, Leilah, Penelope, and Anthony; 2 great-grandchildren, Malichae and Colton; brother, Donald Seigle, Scranton; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Merly Gilia; brother, Walter Seigle; sister, Nan Doyle; and sister-in-law, Gloria Seigle.
Services will be announced and held at a later date.
