Emily Tropeano

Emily Tropeano, 18, Carbondale, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional Hospital, Salisbury, Maryland.

Born in Scranton, daughter of Kelly (Heenan) and John Moran, she graduated with Honors from Carbondale Area High School on June 7, 2024. In her time at Carbondale Area, she was a varsity cheerleader, member of Student Council, Science and Technology Club, Computer Club, and SADD. She was a member of the National Honor Society and has been recognized at Academic Honors Night since 9^th grade. During her senior year, Emily took part in an internship program, working with the mayor’s office at Carbondale City Hall.  During her internship, she helped write small grants, marketed for events, assisted in reviewing initiatives for future plans in the City of Carbondale, attended City Council meetings, as well as interacted and learned from every department within the city, including the Carbondale Police Department. Additionally, she was an avid softball player who played travel ball for 7 years and worked at McGee’s Ice Cream.  After graduation, Emily had clear goals. She planned to attend the University of Scranton with a major in English and a minor in Criminal Justice, with the ultimate goal of attending law school and becoming a lawyer.

Even though Emily was immersed in many school clubs, activities, and initiatives in our community, her top priority was always her family. She took great pride in being a loving and caring daughter, sister, granddaughter, aunt, niece, and cousin. She had an infectious smile and was simply a good-hearted person. If you knew Emily, you loved Emily. Although her time with us was far too short, we all have many cherished memories to hold onto. She enriched all our lives and will be deeply missed.

In addition to her parents, Kelly and John Moran, Emily is survived by a sister, Keri Heenan and her fiancé, Nick Seeley, Carbondale PA; three brothers, Salvatore Polit-Moran and his wife Tara, Harveys Lake PA; Jude Polit-Moran, MD, Sarasota FL; Jaryn Polit-Moran, Bradenton FL; maternal grandparents, Pat and Judy Heenan, Carbondale PA; paternal grandparents, John and Kathryn Mary Moran, Vero Beach FL; 2 nephews, Wyatt and Sal Jr.; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.

The funeral will be Tuesday, June 25, 2024, from the Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 74 N. Main St., Carbondale, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church St., Carbondale.

Public viewing will be held on Monday, June 24, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
