Jose Horacio Berrios
August 1, 2024

Jose Horacio Berrios, 63, Scranton, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2024, at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. His wife of 31 years is Cynthia (Gillette) Berrios.

Born in Puerto Rico, son of the late Jose Horacio and Isidora (Cruz) Berrios, he was a truck driver for Cadden Brothers Moving & Storage. Jose was a very loving and giving person. He made friends anywhere he went. He never had a bad word to say about anyone and would do anything for anybody. To know him was to love him. His wife was his high school sweetheart. And he enjoyed spending all of his time with the family they created. His family was his life, especially his grandchildren. He was the collector of many things. If you needed it, he had it. He was also an avid lover of all cars. He frequently reminisced times spent working on cars with his beloved brothers. He cherished and loved all of his siblings. Jose will be deeply missed.

In addition to his wife, Cynthia, his survivors include, 2 daughters: Shana Berrios, Scranton; and Rhonda Berrios, Scranton; a son, Brandon Berrios and his fiancee, Patricia Hiller, Simpson; “adopted son,” Shawn Cole, Taylor; 1 sister, Lucy Ortiz, Florida; 5 brothers, Roberto Berrios, Scranton; Tony Berrios, Scranton; Carlos Berrios, Whites Crossing; Jose “J.B.” Berrios, Scranton; and William Berrios, Florida; 11 grandchildren: Sadarrah, Kai, Theo, Mateo, Davonte, Brieya, Layla, Nevaeda, Romeo, Scott, and Jozlyn; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law and best friend, Dale Gillette.
