Harold Brister

Harold Brister, 88, of Dalton, formerly of Carbondale, died Saturday at Geisinger CMC, Scranton. His wife Linda Brister preceded him in death.

Born in Wellsboro, son of the late Lloyd Brister and Bertha Jerram, he was an Army veteran. Prior to retirement he worked at Casket Shells Inc as a truck driver. Harold was a devoted and loving father and husband. Even though he spent a lot of time on the road, some of our fondest memories were the vacations we took together as a family.  He also enjoyed woodworking and fishing. The last few years he spent a lot of time at his favorite restaurant, Pinky’s, in Carbondale where he socialized with the many friends he made there.

Surviving are two daughters, Rebecca Oakley, Childs; Abigail Gadja and significant other, William Thelen, Dalton; three sons, Timothy Brister and significant other, Mary Zimmerman, Uniondale; Lucas Brister and wife, Debbie, Olyphant; Matthew Brister and wife, Dawn, Carbondale; 20 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; three sisters, Patty, Georgia and Judy; a step-brother, Dale; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Marion and a son-in-law, Joseph Oakley.

The funeral will be Friday from Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 74 N. Main St., Carbondale. Interment, Willow View Cemetery, Clifford. A viewing will be held Friday at the funeral home from 11 am until 1 pm. Online condolences may be sent to funeral home website.
