Carmella (Muto) Galati
November 16, 2024
Carmella (Muto) Galati, 95, formerly of Carbondale, passed away Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Mid-Valley Health Care Center, Peckville surrounded by her family. Her husband was the late Michael Angelo Galati.
Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Frank and Assunta (DeMarco) Muto, she was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale.
Born on Valentine’s Day, she was a living embodiment of love. She was an exceptional cook, famous for her delicious Italian dishes, especially her spaghetti, and her unforgettable cheese balls that brought friends and family together. Her kindness, generosity, and warmth left a lasting impression on everyone she met, and she had a way of making others feel truly loved. With a sharp wit, a feisty spirit, and a resilience that saw her through life’s challenges, she lit up every room she walked into. A lover of music, she found great joy in singing and dancing. Above all, she cherished her roles as a mother and grandmother, being there for her children and grandchildren with unwavering love and devotion, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
As one of her favorite songs says, “I don’t know why I love you like I do, I don’t know why, I just do.”
Carmella’s survivors include a son, Joseph Galati, Carbondale; daughter, Theresa Kaminsky and husband Stanley, Greenfield Township; sister, Mary (Pinky) Cerra, Carbondale; 6 grandchildren, Shannon, Lauren, Kimberly, Tracey, Krissy, and Stanley; 7 great-grandchildren, Madison, Chase, Liliana, Paisley, Raelyn, Kylie, and Alessandro Jr.; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Sue Andzulis, and brother, Peter Muto.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff at Mid-Valley Health Care Center, formerly known as the Laurels, for years of treating our Carmella as one of their own, and to Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their compassionate care and support.
The funeral will be Wednesday, November 20, 2024, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale. Viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the church. Cremation will follow.
