Mary Ann Duchnik, 89, of Scott Twp, died Thursday evening at the Allied Services Hospice Center, Scranton. Her husband was the late Thomas Duchnik.
Born in Jessup, daughter of the late John and Mary Hrapchak Beggin, she was a member of St. John Vianney Parish, Montdale, and a graduate of Jessup High School. Mary Ann was also a member of the Scott Host Company’s Ladies Auxiliary for many years, Scott Township Senior Club, and longtime member of Catholic Women’s Club and Red Hat Society. Mary Ann retired from the Lakeland School District Cafeteria and Duchnik’s Service Center.
The family would like to thank Mid Valley Healthcare and Allied Services Hospice Center for their kindness and compassionate care.
Survivors include: a daughter, Kathleen Horan and husband, Thomas, Scott Twp.; two sons, Lawrence Duchnik and wife, Carolyn, Montana; David Duchnik and wife, Michele, Scott Twp.; grandchildren, Misty Kosak (Walter); TJ Horan (Stacy); Bridget Conway (Jerrid); great grandchildren, Liam Contreras; Callen Horan; TJ Horan; Willow Kosak; Abigail Kosak; Sadie Conway; Skylar Conway; a brother, Stephen Beggin and wife Marlene, Peckville; sisters-in-law, Marlene Beggin, Barbara Kucha, and Carol Elvidge; several nieces and nephews; and best friend, Regina Tellip.
She was preceded in death by: a son, Thomas Duchnik; a grandson, David L. Duchnik; a brother, John Beggin; sisters-in-law, Deanna Beggin and Marcia Thomas; brothers-in-law, Edward Kucha and David Elvidge.
The funeral will be Tuesday, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in the St. John Vianney (Corpus Christi) Church. Entombment at St. Mary’s Assumption Cemetery, Montdale. The family will receive friends at the church from 9AM until mass time.
