Joan K. Pettinato, 88, Carbondale, died Friday, March 14, 2025, at Marywood Heights, Scranton. Her husband was the late Philip Pettinato.

Born in Simpson, daughter of the late Michael and Kathryn Remus Zeznock, she was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Joan was family-oriented, always putting her friends and family first.  For a woman smaller in stature, she had a big personality. Her warm and loving presence was felt immediately upon entering a room. In social settings, it was her goal to make everyone laugh. Joan was well known around town as a thrifty shopper, bargain finder, New York Yankees fan, and game show aficionado. She was also a devout Catholic and member of Our Lady of the Rosary’s St. Rose of Lima parish.

Survivors include: a son, Randal Pettinato and significant other, Cindy Specht, Carbondale; a daughter, Lori Golecki and husband, Joseph, Greenfield Twp.; grandchildren, Christopher Golecki and wife, Rebecca; Larissa Pettinato; Alexa Jordan and husband, Michael; a great grandson, Carter J. Jordan, several nieces, nephews; great nieces, great nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Kathie Porter and husband, James; a brother, Eugene Zeznock and wife, Shirley.

The funeral will be Thursday, March 20, 2025, from Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 74 N. Main St., Carbondale, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary’s St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church St., Carbondale. Entombment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.
