Ann M. Murnock

March 23, 2025

Ann M. Murnock, gained her angel wings on March 23, 2025, surrounded by family, music and most important, love.  Her beloved husband of 62 years was the late Joseph Murnock who died in 2016.

Ann was born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Theresa Falbo Gigliotti and Bernard Gigliotti, she was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale where she was Drum Majorette and leader of the High School Band. She was a graduate of Cosmetology School, Scranton and the American Hair Design Institute, New York City.  She was employed as a beautician at Strawbridge and Clothier Beauty Salon, The Scranton Dry Goods and the Globe Store Salon.

Ann was a member of St. Eulalia Parish, Elmhurst.  She loved her Catholic faith; it was a cornerstone in her life and marriage. She was active in the Scranton Diocese and served for many years as the President and Vice President of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, Lower Lackawanna District and served as 1st Vice President of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women Executive Board.  In the past she had served as representative to the Marion Seminar at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Washington D.C.  She was a past member of the co-workers of St. Mother Theresa of Calcutta, Bishop’s Commission on Mary and the Diocesan Woman’s Commission.  She was a member of the Scranton Teresians and past member of the St. Raphael society.

As a member of St. Eulalia’s parish and its societies, Ann served on the Breakfast Committee, RCIA and was a CCD teacher for many years.  She traveled throughout the Diocese with her Pilgrim Statue of Our Lady with prayers and rosary devotion at nursing homes, churches and private residences.  Ann, with such a deep-rooted faith, instilled into everyone she met, kindness, love and forgiveness whether you knew it or not.  Her motto of turning the other cheek and who cares anyway was something that made her not only beautiful on the inside but radiant and classy on the outside.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Joe, her parents and sister Rachael Rusnak.

She is survived by daughter JoAnn and husband Marc Pane, Scranton;  grandchildren, Christopher Figula, Florida; Laea Figula (Justin); and great grandson Denver, Michigan; Carmen Pane (Melissa) Scranton; a sister Mary Monahan, Carbondale; brother Anthony (Sandy) Gigliotti, Schenectady NY; and brother-in-law John Murnock, Eynon; along with many wonderful and loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends she loved and were special to her.

The family would like to thank the staff at Lynwood Nursing and Rehab Center and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their care.  A special heartfelt thank you to the friends that have become family in the care of Ann over the last several years as she suffered from Dementia, the road was bumpy at times but was always entertaining, even through the woozy doozy events: Sue, Stephanie, Lydia, Florine, Agnes and last but not least Theresa, your love and compassion has been astonishing.

The funeral will be Monday, March 31, 2025, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook St., Carbondale. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill. The family will receive friends at the church from 9 a.m. until mass time.
