Carol Datto, 77, Crystal Lake, Carbondale, died on Tuesday at Allied Services Hospice. Her husband was the late Ralph J. Datto.
Born in Carbondale, Carol was the daughter of the late Bruno and Germaine Figliomeni Sposito. Carol was a graduate of Marywood University where she obtained both her undergraduate and master’s degrees.  For more than 30 years, Carol was a high school English and Literature teacher at Lakeland High School where she enriched the lives of hundreds of students.  While at Lakeland, Carol served as the Chairperson of the Drama Department and was most proud of her productions of Bye Bye Birdie and George M. Cohan.
Carol was a devoted mother to her two sons and her three grandchildren.  She was actively involved in every aspect of their lives.  During the winter months, Carol enjoyed traveling to her son’s home in Naples, Florida where she made many wonderful friends.  Carol enjoyed her home at Crystal Lake and spending time with her many friends.
The family sends their deepest gratitude to Dr. Frank Moro for his excellent care; to Dr. Namita Sharma and the entire staff at Geisinger Oncology Department, and to Allied Services Hospice for their compassionate care.  The family also extends their appreciation to Carol’s dear friends; Pat, Frances, Gwen, Josephine, Linda, Fern, Barb, and Kathie.
Surviving are Carol’s two sons; Ralph B. Datto and his wife, Sherri, Crystal Lake; Brett A. Datto, Philadelphia, and Carol’s three grandsons, Andrew P., Caleb J., and Michael R. Datto.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Carbondale at 9:30 a.m. The family will receive friends at the church from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.
