Long-time resident of Plains, PA, Walter Keith Kosak Jr. died peacefully of natural causes in the early morning hours of January 1, 2021.
 
Preceding him in death are his parents Ruth and Walter Kosak Sr. Surviving are his loving wife of 42-years, Sharon Kosak, son Walter Kosak III and daughter Katrina Matthews, grandchildren (identical twins) Abigail and Willow Kosak and their step brother Liam Contreras; sisters Kathy Austin, Heather Balman, Lisa Pettillo and Kimmy Shemanski, many cousins, nieces and nephews, including a large extended family.
 
He was born in Wilkes-Barre on May 7, 1955 to Ruth and Walter Kosak Sr. He graduated from Coughlin High School in 1974 and went on to obtain his degree from LCCC for Culinary Arts in 1977.
 
Walter loved his wife and children very much. He was an avid outdoorsman. Each year, he meticulously planned for hunting season and loved sharing his knowledge of nature with those around him. He was a distinguished archer and angler who loved to take his family on camping adventures. Walter was a lover of live music and traveled with his wife and friends to see some of the most iconic singers and songwriters of his generation. He was also a supporter and patron of classical music. Walter was a devoted New York Yankees fan and loved watching ball games with his family.
 
Walter ran ‘The Best Diner’ on Blackman Street in Wilkes-Barre from 1977 to 1990. He took great pride in cooking homemade cuisine.
 
Services are currently pending. There will be no viewing or funeral at this time, due to current restrictions. A memorial will be held in the future at the discretion of immediate family.
