Anthony J. Bonomo Jr.
December 29, 2020
It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the sudden passing of Anthony J. Bonomo Jr., 76, Vandling. His loving wife of 53 years is the former Rose Marie Susnosky.
Born in Carbondale, son of the late Anthony J. Bonomo Sr. and Rose Gillott Bonomo, he was a graduate of Carbondale Benjamin Franklin High School Class of 1962. Tony was spiritually strong, compassionate and above all he loved and cherished his wife, family, friends and life. He was his wife’s compass as they were inseparable and navigated life together.
He had a devotion to his faith and a passion for cheeseburgers, his “Little Red Corvette,” reading, American History, carpentry, detailing his cars and taking care of his home and yard. He was very meticulous. His high school yearbook prediction was “he would straighten out the Leaning Tower of Pisa” if he could.
He worked for 20 years at Sugarman’s in Eynon, spent time at Home Depot and retired from Jerry’s Sports Center in Vandling.
Rose Marie extends her sincere appreciation to Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their compassionate care during Tony’s brief stay.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: a sister, Ann Marie Bonomo, Carbondale; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Alunni and husband, Robert, Mass.; Patricia Susnosky, Peckville; nephews, Andrew Susnosky and wife, Casey; Matthew Susnosky, all of Peckville; a great niece, Scarlett Rose Susnosky; an uncle by choice, Vincent Tylenda, Dickson City; many cousins and friends.
The funeral will be Tuesday from Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 74 N. Main St, Carbondale with Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 9:30 a.m. Entombment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Twp.
