Kathryn Ann O’Hara, 81, passed away peacefully on Friday August 19, 2022, at Carbondale Area Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a lengthy illness.
Born Kathryn Peduto, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Rose Peduto and a lifelong resident of Carbondale. She was a graduate of St. Rose High School, Carbondale, and attended Beauty School in the 60’s. After graduation she ran her own successful beauty shop out of her family home. In the 90’s she reinvented herself by going to Allied Medical School and pursued a career as a medical assistant.
Known as Kay to those who loved her, she enjoyed visiting with and cooking for her family, going on social media, playing bingo, and taking trips to the casino whenever possible.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Sheare and her companion Carl Snyder; Penny Eibach and her husband John; and her son, Michael X. O’Hara and his wife Pauline. She leaves behind grandchildren Jennifer Sabatelle and her husband AJ; Angel O’Hara; Jeffrey Sheare and his wife Mallery, Kristina Aston and her husband Rich; and Connor Eibach. She also had the pleasure of spending time with her great-grandchildren – Cameron, Adalynn, Rocky, Bryce, and Isabelle. She will be dearly missed by her aunt, Loretta Datto. Making memories with her goddaughter, Sandy Majorino and companion Michael McGilvary, always brought a smile to her face.
Kathryn now rejoins her beloved son, John A. O’Hara; as well as her sister, Mary Cronin; and her aunt, Claire Gentile.
Family and friends may call on Saturday August 27, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 74 North Main Street, Carbondale. To offer online condolences please visit the funeral’s website at https://lawrencegabrielfuneralhomes.com.
The family would like to thank both HHCP and Carbondale Area Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the wonderful job they did caring for Kay during her period of illness. Without their hard work and dedication, we would not have been able to get through this trying time.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to Home Health Care Professionals & Hospice (HHCP), Olyphant, PA.
