FUNERAL

Types of Funeral Services

The two most common methods for disposition of the deceased are burial and cremation.  No matter which method you choose, please realize there are several types of services to accommodate either option.   It is very important to consider the preferences of both the deceased and the family in order to provide the most meaningful tribute to someone’s life. Gathering with friends and family gives everyone the opportunity to share memories, express emotions, and find comforting support.   Whether you choose burial or cremation; whether you select a formal funeral or a more relaxed memorial service, the need for acknowledgment of the loss with family and friends is ever present.

Traditional Funeral Services

For this type of funeral service, your loved one is present and able to be viewed (privately or publicly) at the discretion of the family.  Traditional services are mostly held at one of our funeral homes or in a local church of your choosing.  When choosing a traditional funeral service, a visitation is usually scheduled the day before the service or on the day of the service, depending on the preference of the family.  This visitation allows time for your family and friends to pay their respects to your loved one.  In addition, it gives an opportunity for the community to support the surviving family members and extend their deepest sympathies.  The funeral service will be arranged by the family and funeral director and conducted by a local clergyman.  At the conclusion of the funeral service, there is usually a funeral procession to the cemetery for a brief committal service at the cemetery chapel or grave site.

Graveside

These services are held at the cemetery of your choosing.  The funeral service will be arranged between the family and funeral director and conducted by a local clergyman.  Typically, the committal service is also performed at this time.

Direct Burial

With a direct burial, there are no services arranged and no visitation.  Your loved one would be transported to the cemetery of your choosing and burial would take place.
