Catherine “Kay” Petrous Gabriel

Catherine “Kay” Petrous Gabriel, 88, Scott Twp., died Friday at Lackawanna Health and Rehab Center, Sturges. Her husband was the late George Gabriel.

Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Peter and Catherine Lyden Petrous, Kay was a homemaker who enjoyed family gatherings and entertaining family and friends.
Surviving are: three daughters, Linda Bacon, Arizona; Mary Margaret Rome, Montdale; and Noreen Borgia, Jermyn; three sons, John (Jack) Gabriel, Tunkhannock; David Gabriel, Scott Twp,; and Frank Gabriel, Scranton; grandchildren, Michael, Donna and Joy Hildebrandt; Tommy, Eugene and David Bacon; Shannon, Dennis, Jacklyn, Ashley, Robert, and Bobbi-Ann Gabriel, Kimberly and Mark Albino, Racheal Andrejack, Christopher and Amber Borgna; great grandchildren, Louis Gabriel, Cierstin, Casey, Conner, Alyssa and Ava Albino; Cassidy and Carley Andrejack; Mariana Gaul,  Mason Muir and Avery Gabriel, a great great grandchild, Giavanna Fanucci and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, George and Robert Gabriel, five sisters, Beatrice Sarnoski, Madeline Wells, Mary Frances Rogari, Hilda Cornall and Eleanor Gallinot; two brothers, PJ and Jake Petrous.

The funeral was held on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, from Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 74 N. Main St., Carbondale with Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Corpus Christi Church, St. John Vianney Parish, Montdale. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.

A viewing was held on Monday, February 12, 2018, from 5 pm until 8 pm.
