Robert D. Dougherty

Robert D. Dougherty, 91, of Waymart, died Wednesday, April 5 at Allied Hospice, Scranton. His wife is Barbara Gabriel Dougherty.

Born in New Philadelphia, he was the son of the late James and Katherine Norkus Dougherty. He was a graduate of Philadelphia School of the Arts and Sciences and an X-ray technician at Farview State Hospital for 35 years. He was a United States Air Force veteran and an assistant air medic. Bob was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Waymart, and vice president of AFSCME Pa. State Retirees organization. He was well-liked and respected by everyone who knew him. The family thanks Dr. Frank Moro for his years of care.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Catherine Wilson and husband, Bob, Bangor; Eileen Jaggars and husband, Dave, Lake Ariel; and Rebekah Eckhart and husband, Keith, Waymart; a son, Dave Ostrowski, Carbondale; grandchildren, Maureen O’Neill and husband, Seamus; Brian Munley; Lindsay Rogers and husband, Tom; Damon Rogers, Dylan Ostrowski, Samantha Guzzi, Aaron Eckhart, Tabitha Eckhart and Imogene Eckhart; great-grandchildren, Landry Rogers, Layton Rogers, Serenity and Ostrowski; several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Brian Dougherty.

Services will be held at a later date.
