Stephen Saltisiak, 90, Carbondale, died Sunday at Geisinger CMC, Scranton, one month shy of his 91st birthday. His wife, Rose (Totsky) Saltisiak, died in 2001.

Born in Forest City, son of the late John and Mary (Barna) Saltisiak, he was stationed in Germany while serving in the United States Army. A 1950 graduate of Forest City High School, Stephen was a TV repairman, part-owner and manager of City Electric Service, Inc., from 1950-1991. In 1991, he began working at M & S Electric Supply Inc., in Childs, until 2023. A member of Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Simpson, he was a big sports enthusiast. Stephen was an avid New York Yankees fan, enjoyed fishing, and loved Nascar. He enjoyed the simple things in life, such as gathering for Sunday dinner with the family at the homestead. He will be greatly missed.

The family wishes to thank the Progressive Care Unit and the nurses on the 8th floor of Geisinger CMC, Scranton.

He is survived by two sons: Stephen J. Saltisiak and wife Mary, Carbondale; Michael A. Saltisiak, Carbondale; two daughters: Mary Ann Phillips and husband Richard, Portsmouth, Virginia; Ann Marie Meholic, Plains Township; a brother: John Saltisiak and wife Jean, Owego, New York; four grandchildren: Michael Meholic, Plains Township; Jennifer Saltisiak, Nuangola; Julie Heeter and husband J.R., Endicott, New York; Stephen Michael Saltisiak, Dickson City; one great grandchild: JJ Heeter, Endicott, New York; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, John; three brothers: Michael, Andrew, and Peter Saltisiak; one sister, Alice Nigh.

The funeral will be Friday from Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 74 N. Main St., Carbondale, with Divine Liturgy at 10:30 AM in Ss. Peter & Paul Greek Catholic Church, 43 Rittenhouse St., Simpson by the Rev. Myron Myronyuk. Interment, parish cemetery.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. To offer an online condolence, visit the funeral home’s website.
