Maria Bradley

Maria Bradley, 65, Carbondale, died peacefully at home Thursday morning, surrounded by her loving family after a lengthy illness. Her husband of 29 years is James Bradley.

Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Anthony and Marie (DeFazio) Barrese, she was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale. Maria was a 1975 graduate of Carbondale Area High School. She attended Broome County Community College, where she received her degree as a registered nurse. She worked at several hospitals in her career, retiring from Moses Taylor Hospital due to her illness.

The family wishes to thank her caregivers, Jaylisa Adams and Robyn Brozosky, as well as Dr. Orehek for the compassionate care provided over the years.

In addition to her husband James, she is survived by a son, Robert Barrese and wife, Jessica; a daughter, Randi Bannon and husband Ryan; four brothers, Joseph F. Barrese and wife Mary, Anthony J. Barrese Jr. and wife Elaine, Ralph Barrese and wife Nancy, and Raymond Barrese and wife Sue; four grandchildren, Colin, Killian, Kaci and Barrett; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Cheryl Ann Schofield; and a brother, Francis Barrese.

The funeral will be Tuesday, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until Mass time at the church.
