Marie S. Jackson, 92, beloved wife of the late Benjamin Jackson, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Monday, Nov. 27 at the Carbondale Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Carbondale on Dec. 8, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Molinaro Gatto. She worked as a seamstress in the garment industry for many years. She enjoyed camping with her husband and cherished time spent with family, especially her grandchildren, playing many games of cards with them. She was a lifetime member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Altar and Rosary Society. She loved going to the senior citizen dances and enjoyed reading novels. Marie cherished her family and prayed unceasingly for everyone she knew.

Surviving are two daughters, Ann Marie Warren (Robert) of Greenfield Twp. and Benita Fobes (Joseph) of Waymart; grandchildren, James Warren (Holly), Amanda Fobes and Brittany Fobes; and several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Thomas Gatto of Archbald; and a sister, Carmelita Potash (Robert) of Connecticut; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Nunzio, James, Samuel, Louis and Joseph Gatto; sisters, Sarafina Gatto, Sadie Gravine, Ann Gatto and Rita Elias.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Dec. 7 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Carbondale, followed by interment in Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery in Finch Hill. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 6 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 74 N. Main St. in Carbondale.
