Grace Baldino

Grace Baldino, 98, of Carbondale, died Wednesday at Carbondale Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late John A. Baldino, with whom she shared 64 wonderful years of marriage.

Born in Dunmore, daughter of the late Salvatore and Rose Occulto Giannone, she was a member of Carbondale’s Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church choir for many years. She was a special person, always doing for others before herself. She enjoyed going to the casino, shopping, cooking, cleaning and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was well-known for her delicious meatballs.

The family extends their sincere appreciation to the entire Carbondale Nursing Home staff for their outstanding compassionate care.

Survivors include a son, John J. Baldino and wife, Katie, Scott Twp.; a daughter, Ann Vadella and husband, Joe, Carbondale; four grandchildren, John D. Baldino, Clarks Summit; Shauna Turlip, Carbondale; Joseph Vadella, Hamburg, Germany; and Nicholas Vadella and wife, Mya, San Antonio, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Brady, Meryn, Cooper and Caroline Turlip; a sister, Josephine Edwards, Clarks Summit; three brothers, Joseph Giannone, Grand Junction, Colorado; Salvatore Giannone, New Orleans, Louisiana; and Anthony Giannone, Scranton; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Sarah Orazzi and Vincentina Jane Budney.

The funeral will be Monday from Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 74 N. Main St., Carbondale, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill. A viewing will be held Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to the funeral home website.
