Angela Tolerico, 97, Carbondale, passed away peacefully Wednesday, with her son by her side, at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. She was the wife of the late Joseph “Tucker” Tolerico.

Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Louis “Casey” and Angela (Scarpino) Tolerico, she was a dedicated parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale, a member of its Altar and Rosary Society and very active in all church functions. Her religion and her family, especially her grandchildren, were extremely important to her. Angela cherished the time she spent with her sister, Maryann. Over the last several years, she truly enjoyed spending time at Newton Lake with her granddaughter, Angela, her son, Phil, daughter-in-law, Jill, grandson-in-law, Billy, and her four great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank Angie, Dee, and Heather for the compassionate care they provided.

Survivors include a son, Philip Giglia and wife Jill, Carbondale; a sister, Maryann Kearney, Carbondale; a granddaughter, Angela Morrison and husband Billy, Greenfield Twp.; four great-grandchildren, Aricka Giglia, Casey Prawdzik, Kendall and Gigliana Morrison; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter, Amanda Marie Giglia Prawdzik; a brother, Fred Tolerico; three sisters, Rose Talerico, Connie Zazzera and Joann Cerra.

The funeral will be Monday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale. Entombment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill. A viewing will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until Mass.
