David M. Greene

David M. Greene, 68, of Peckville, died Monday at home. His longtime companion was the late Theodora Chwasciewski.

Born in Carbondale, son of the late John and Mary Ellen Gerrity Greene, he was a 1973 graduate of Carbondale Area High School. He worked over 20 years at TW ComCorp as a shipping and receiving supervisor and then went on to work at Arlington Industries where he retired in 2019.

Affectionately known as “Big Dave” to all who loved him, his favorite thing to do was spending time with his kids. Whether it was running to a practice or ball game, taking a wisdom filled walk or spending time at the Lackawanna State Park, he loved his kids fiercely. He enjoyed going on road trips, watching westerns, or really anything on MeTV.

Surviving are two sons, David Greene and wife, Trish, Houston, Texas; Daniel Greene and wife, Heather, Carbondale; a daughter, Tessa Greene, Carbondale; a brother, Jack Greene and wife, Kelly, Carbondale; a sister, Nancy Stackhouse and husband, Bob, Tunkhannock; a sister-in-law, Carol Greene, Childs; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Zack Greene; and a brother, Richard Greene.

The funeral will be Monday with a blessing service at 10 a.m. from Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 74 N. Main St., Carbondale. Entombment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill. A viewing will be held Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you perform a random act of kindness in honor of Big Dave.
